This week in review

This week has been hectic. I'm sure busy with crafting and this past week's Harvest/Halloween blog hop made me want to stamp even more!

You can scroll down to see the projects. I had fun making them!

This week's Oriental Sketch Challenge over on MFPSpeedyTV.ning.com is this sketch.
The flower was stamped in Versa Mark onto black card stock. I embossed it in white. Then I painted in with bleach to make the card stock white/brown. If you heat set the bleach it will get a brownish look. I love it! I colored in with ink based/water based markers and wiped off the excess with a paper towel. I cut out the image leaving just a bit of the black outside the embossed white lines.

A thrifty hint is to purchase the Clorox Concentrated bleach. It works fast and dries quickly.

Oriental Sketch Challenge on MFPSpeedyTV!

It's week 2 of the Oriental Sketch challenge on MFPSpeedyTV.ning.com! This is my card for the challenge:
I love this little bird on the pussy willow branch. I used some scrapbook paper for the panels. I traded some empty jars for a huge box of scrapbook paper last weekend.

I put together a community Craft Materials/Tools Swap. We meet once a month at the church. Each person brings a box of items that they want to swap. You can swap out the entire box or you can swap piece by piece.  It's fun, and you never know what you are going to come home with! I got a glue gun, punches and a crimper a few months back! Other ladies brought in scissors, markers, gold flaking materials, stained glass tools, mosaic pieces, wood tools, old drills, leather kits, sewing materials, old glass milk jugs, glass blocks, baby food containers, half bottles of different glues, half cans of spray paint, skeins of yarn, sewing bags, knitting needles, paper cutters, ink pads, shredder, pasta machine and little pill bottles.

I was a bit stymied in my stamping about a year ago. I didn't have many tools. The Craft Swap helped get my creative juices going and gave me access to new to me tools. You may want to think about getting together with a few friends once in a while to try a craft materials/tools swap!

Here's the Design Team:

I love this set because it has great masculine images and a banner. The banner is just one banner with different words that can be stamped in it. This banner could and will be used as a Birthday Party banner on future cards. I will stamp Birthday and then have the Party in the banner. On the inside of the card I will print up the party invitation! You could also have it be a Thank You card for gifts you received on your birthday. There are many uses for the banner and I am looking forward to playing! Great set!

This week's cards in review!

For the Thrifty Stamper column on MFPSpeedyTV.ning.com we focused on plastic ribbon masking

Today's Tutorial Time challenge is this darling shoe!
This week's Themes from the Orient column and tutorial are about Oriental Weaving.
Heavens to Betsy! I just realized I used the same butterfly image on all these projects! Thank goodness I colored him differently!  I made these at different times weeks apart. You'd think I only had a few stamp sets! heehee

Today's Sneak Peeks are from Holiday Tag:
This card was sponged with brown to make it look vintage.
I have a new Natural color cardstock that was given to me by my daughter. I have been making vintage type cards.

The mini that is FREE this month when you buy 4 sets is called
Nature's Sketches

This card is simple and clean.

The image was colored with a marker. I huffed on it to make the ink wet and stamped. Next I sponged in the color. I think it looks like a dandelion puff. The background is onion printed.
